After School Programs
Pokémon-Themed Social Thinking & Regulation
This program utilizes Pokémon as a framework to teach the Superflex social-emotional curriculum. By pairing familiar characters with evidence-based regulation strategies, students learn to identify social challenges and apply “coping moves” in a supportive, high-interest environment.
Weekly Session Flow:
- Mindfulness & Literacy: Each class begins with a Pokémon-themed story followed by a guided breathing exercise.
- Comparative Analysis: We will bridge the Pokémon universe with Superflex concepts, comparing various Pokémon traits to “Unthinkable” characters (social challenges) and “Thinkables” (pro-social strategies).
- Strategy Battles: Students participate in simulated “battles” where they must use friendship strategies and coping mechanisms to resolve social conflicts and overcome rigid thinking patterns.
- Tactile Reinforcement: To encourage engagement and provide a physical reminder of the day’s lesson, each student receives one Pokémon trading card and one 3D-printed Pokémon model per session.

Executive Functioning Arts & Crafts Club
This club utilizes large-scale, multi-step art projects to help students develop and refine core executive functioning skills. By creating a complex project—such as a handmade piñata—students move beyond simple crafting to practice long-term planning, organization, and task persistence in a collaborative setting.
Weekly Session Flow:
- Mindfulness & Focus: Every class begins with a brief story and a breathing exercise. This routine helps students transition their focus, settle into the environment, and prepare their minds for a period of sustained attention.
- The “Big Picture” Project: The core of the club involves working on a large-scale piñata. Unlike quick crafts, this project requires students to manage materials and navigate a timeline that spans several weeks.
